Updates from Sony regarding Group Contributions for the Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster

As of February 23, Sony Corporation and its group companies around the world have made additional contributions of approximately 140 million yen(*) to assist victims of the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami disaster. When added to the immediate relief that was previously announced on January 6, 2005, the total contribution from the Sony Group has now reached approximately 210 million yen.

* Details of the contribution

  • Sony group companies in Japan raised funds from employees and Sony Corporation matched the amount. Donation made to the Japanese Red Cross Society.
  • Sony group companies in the U.S. raised funds from employees and Sony Corporation of America matched the amount. Donations to the American Red Cross, Save the Children and AmeriCares.
  • Sony group companies in Europe raised funds from employees and Sony Europe Foundation matched the amount. Donations toThe Dutch Red Cross and others.
  • Sony of Canada Ltd. and its employees made contributions to the Canada Red Cross, Oxfam, World Vision and others.
  • Sony Corporation of Hong Kong Ltd. and its employees donated to the Hong Kong Red Cross.
  • Sony International (Hong Kong) Ltd. raised funds from employees and the company matched the amount. Donations to the Hong Kong Red Cross.
  • Sony Taiwan Ltd. made contributions to the Taiwan Red Cross.
  • Sony Pictures Entertainment(Japan) lnc. made contributions to the Japanese Red Cross Society.
  • Sony Life Insurance Co,. Ltd. donated to the Japanese Red Cross.

We earnestly hope that the disaster areas will recover as soon as possible.
