“Sony Creative Science Award in Taiwan & Science workshop in Singapore”

The future of our younger generation could have never been more meaningful when Sony Companies in Malaysia joined effort and spirit in hosting the third Sony Science Program in Malaysia on October 19th, 2013. The program was held at Sony EMCS (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (SOEM).

This program combined innovation and creativity where a workshop titled "Make your own IC recorder" was organized for the Malaysian Government School Students. Approximately 40 students from ages ranging from 11 and 12 years old and 10 teachers from 10 government primary schools from the district of Hulu Langat participated in the workshop. The students were given the opportunity to assemble their own IC recorders. Nurturing the power of science and creativity in young children encourages them to be innovative and develop their liking in science knowledge. Creating innovative minds was our primary objective.

Among other activities organized was a walk through explanation in the factory. The students and teachers were brought to TV, Auto Mount and Video Production for a tour. This tour gave an opportunity to students and teachers to view the manufacturing and electronic products. While other activities included some fun time with Sony Picture Entertainment Mascot 'The Smurfs' and a theatre featuring high-end sound system 'Shake 5' and latest technology TV 65″ 4K TV.

Speaking after the certificate presentation ceremony, Dr. Rosman bin Md Ajis representative, from Curriculum and Arts Division of Ministry of Education, Putrajaya commended on the science program: "The science program boosts the student interest in science. It encourages creativity at young age." He further added that, "We hope Sony will continue to organize more science programs for students to explore new innovation and this will prepare them for future challenges in the near future community".
In his closing speech, Mr. Mahdi, Sony EMCS (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Prai plant) Human Resource & General Affairs Head of Division mentioned that the program aims to teach children about the principles of science through first-hand experience, to encourage curiosity and to inspire imagination. He further added that Sony Companies in Malaysia is dedicated to play an integral part to the community through various science activities to promote forward thinking, innovation and creativity in younger generations as they are the future pillars of Malaysia.
At the end of the programme, the joyful students brought back their self assembled and decorated IC recorder, certificate of participation for successfully completing the program and a handful of gifts received from the various fun filled activities. What a blast of a time!

The successful program was a joint force of Sony Companies in Malaysia's power, collaboration and strength. The program was again a good platform of up-coming events and we believe in sharing more in years to come.
