On Oct. 1st 2011, Sony Science Program was held first time in Malaysia. About 100 students aged between 11 and 12 year old and 40 teachers from 20 government primary schools from the Central Region of Malaysia participated in “Making Headphones from Recycle Material” workshop.
In this 3 hours long workshop, students discovered that they could make their own headphones from recycle materials, and experienced that they could really hear music from WALKMAN through the headphones.
Among other activities organized were a walk through explanation of Robotic Operation at BluRay Auto Mount Centre, a plant tour at LCD Production line and 3D Experience whereby students and teachers were given opportunity to observe 3D movies and games.
Teachers were impressed by Sony’s strong effort in organizing activities that is considerable for children’s future especially in opening their minds and creating interest in technology through fun and exciting way. Such great mind curve in students and continuity in similar program can result great innovators in the future.
In the next five years, Sony group companies in Malaysia through Corporate Social Responsibility efforts in Malaysia will organize science and technology workshop targeting in all level of students from local schools, institution and university aiming at cultivation scientific and technological minds in Malaysian students.
