Q: What is your common communication language at Sony Japan? Should I be able to speak Japanese before application?

A: Japanese is a common working language at Sony Japan while English works as well. In order to ensure smooth communication at office so that you can perform tasks efficiently and precisely, we will provide language training of Japanese once you are recruited and you are expected to be capable of speaking Japanese through the language training. However, fluency in Japanese is not required before application. The whole interview process will be conducted in English.


Q: Where are the jobs located?

A: Main locations are in Tokyo with a few opportunities in other cities in Japan.


Q: When do the jobs start?

A: Jobs generally commence after you complete your degree and take a few-month Japanese language training.


Q: What about the probability for foreign employees to get a promotion in Sony Japan?

A: At Sony, whether an employee can get a promotion depends on his/her performance, skills and other factors instead of his/her nationality.


Q: What kind of training will I receive after I join Sony Japan?

A: Once you get recruited, we will first prepare a few-month language training of Japanese for you. After you join Sony Japan, we will continue to provide training in language, cross-cultural education and other related technologies.


For Internship

Q: What is your common communication language at Sony Japan? Should I be able to speak Japanese before application?

A: Japanese is a common working language at Sony Japan while English works as well. However, Japanese language skills are not required for interns. The whole interview process will be conducted in English.


Q: Where are the jobs located?

A: Main locations are in Tokyo with a few opportunities in other cities in Japan.


Q: When will the jobs start and how long will it last?

A: It will start right after the Visa is granted, and the internship period will last for two or three months, according to the assignment, exceptions are acceptable.


Q: What can I learn during the internship?

A: During the internship, you will have your own tutor, and are supposed to become a part of their Sony departments and work side-by-side with some of the most talented professionals in the industry. You will be familiar with the routine work of a regular employee, and may be assigned with some creative projects exploring your potentials.


Q: What about the remuneration and other benefits?

A: The Company will be responsible for your round-way flight ticket, commuting and accommodation fees, and internship allowance will be paid.


Q: What is helpful in my interview?

A: It is important that you should clearly explain your skill and talent based upon actual experiences and achievements so that Sony can understand your competency.
