After three consecutive years in its birthplace of the Copacabana Beach in Brazil, the fourth edition of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2008 (FBSWC) was held under the Mediterranean sun on the Prado Beach in Marseille (France). A total of 16 teams competed from July 17-27 on the Prado Beach, and saw FBSWC 2006 and 2007 champion Brazil defending its position against Italy (5:3). Bronze went to Portugal who edged Spain 5:4 in a tense battle.
