Comment:"Sony should heed the views and opinions of its female employees and incorporate them in management in the future."
Response:We recognize maximizing the capabilities of our female employees as an important issue. Accordingly, we are implementing a variety of measures in different areas. In Japan, for example, in 2004 Sony Corporation initiated the Gender Diversity Project, while in the first half of 2005 the Sony Group in Japan established a new council comprising female Sony Group employees to provide career support, as well as make proposals from a distinctly female point of view and report them directly to top management. (See page 29 of the Sony CSR Report 2005.)
Comment:"Rather than just examples of Sony's social contribution activities, I think it would be more effective to include information on the individuals responsible for these activities and explain how activities are administered."
Response:We have added a chart showing how Sony's social contribution activities are administered. (See page 35 of the Sony CSR Report 2005.)
Comment:"There is not enough statistical data on workplace safety in different areas where the Sony Group has sites."
Response:We have added workplace injury statistics for key geographical areas. (See page 33 of the Sony CSR Report 2005.)
Comment:"I'd like to know more about the relationship between supplier selection and the Green Partner Environmental Quality Approval Program."
Response:Environmental management systems are a basic requirement for selection as a Sony supplier. Companies are not eligible to supply Sony unless they qualify for the Green Partner Environmental Quality Approval Program. (See page 19 and 51 of the Sony CSR Report 2005.)
