Flip the performance switch on VAIO® S notebooks to work in Stamina or Speed mode, with Stamina mode offering maximum battery life. When there is no need for the higher rendering performance of the discrete graphics card, it is essentially turned off in this mode. Work for longer periods when away from an outlet, whether traveling or attending a long meeting. Switch back to Speed mode to enjoy superb VAIO® graphics performance.
Screen brightness is adjusted to suit lighting conditions using an ambient light sensor
The backlit keyboard of VAIO® S notebooks makes it easier to type on flights or in other dark environments. To save energy, the backlight is automatically dimmed after a period of inactivity. The screen is also dimmed automatically in low-light conditions, in response to an ambient light sensor. In a well-lit office, for example, screen brightness may be automatically lowered two levels, extending battery life considerably. The VAIO® S series is carefully designed to avoid wasting energy whether the notebooks are in use or idle.
Exemplary environmental performance by the VAIO® S series does not stop with the computer itself. To reduce paper consumption, recycled paper is used for packaging and documentation, with support information provided electronically. The packaging provides ample protection without the need for polystyrene foam. And because the boxes are more compact, more fit in each shipping container, which reduces CO2 emissions from distribution.
13.3-inch S series notebooks offer both superb performance in general and good environmental performance. Boasting a long running time of up to about 8.5 hours,* the notebooks can be switched between performance modes for efficient battery use and include other energy-saving features.
