Several industry leading eco-conscious Sony products are showcased here, including examples of product-based initiatives from the four Road to Zero environmental Perspectives.

This Cyber-shot offers 20x optical zoom in a luxurious, compact body,
but powerful zoom is not the only alluring feature. Its environmental performance is impressive,
and the camera saves both resources and energy in many ways.
New AA lens (in green)–plays a large role in a smaller lens structure

The telescoping lens unit is significantly slimmer, thanks to the sophisticated molding technique used to produce the advanced aspherical (AA) lens element. Inside the camera, streamlining of the circuit board and other parts means that despite the inclusion of a powerful 20x optical zoom, the compact body is only 27.4 mm deep.1 In fact, this model is nearly 60% smaller by volume than previous models with 20x optical zoom2 and weighs about half as much, saving considerable resources. Besides enabling superb optical performance, the use of an AA lens also counteracts chromatic aberration, which may otherwise tend to occur at high magnification.

2 DSC-HX1

Energy efficiency takes a quantum leap in the DSC-HX30/HX20 Series, which incorporates a new 18.2 megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor and BIONZ image processor. Shoot about 1.5 times more pictures than with previous models* —94 shots compared to 64, as calculated per watt-hour of battery capacity. Many shots in captivating 18.2-megapixel quality can be taken with the DSC-HX30/HX20 Series with minimal energy consumption.

SoRPlas is a plastic with 99% recycled content, developed by Sony. Although SoRPlas has been used in televisions and other larger electronics, research and refinement were needed to reformulate it with larger molecules for use in mobile devices. A new version of SoRPlas offers better resistance to impact and different elements such as hand lotions. This plastic is used for many parts in the DSC-HX30/HX20 Series.

DSC-HX30/20 Series was awarded the CES 2013 Innovation Awards in the Eco-Design category. utilizing SoRPlas, 99% recycled plastic technology is highly appreciated.

This Cyber-shot was designed as a more compact camera offering 20x optical zoom. For precise correction of camera shake that is more likely to occur at higher magnification, optical image stabilization leverages a new gyro sensor. This and other advanced features make it easy to take beautiful zoomed shots. Rounded out by carefully designed body textures and a secure grip, this compact camera offers so much more with less environmental impact.
