Sony Shionoka Park was created on the grounds of Sony Semiconductor Kyushu Corporation's Oita Technology Center, free for the public to enjoy. Natural local features such as fallen trees and timber from forest thinning have been skillfully incorporated into park facilities, which also follow universal design guidelines. Restrooms and areas to relax are available.

The park is enjoyed by thousands of visitors a month, especially children from local nursery schools, kindergartens and other schools. It is also a favorite destination of visitors from daycare centers.
