The Eye See III workshops - an exciting opportunity for young people
to tell their stories and express their world through images captured
with photography
Eye See III has given the chance for children in Liberia and Rwanda - two countries in Africa facing huge development challenges - to enjoy and profit from the photography workshop experience.
Most of the children had never looked through the lens of a camera nor owned a photo.
The aim of the workshops is to support UNICEFfs global campaign to reduce child deaths from malaria and to increase child participation.
Malaria is the Number One cause of death for children under five in Liberia and Rwanda - indeed, in all of sub-Saharan Africa. Preventing and treating malaria is an integral part of efforts by UNICEF and its partners to promote child survival in all communities.
Creating awareness about the disease, the UNICEF campaign also involves purchasing and distributing the insecticide-treated bed netsvital for preventing malaria.Sleeping under a bed net protects a child or pregnant woman from the mosquitofs bite ¯ and also kills the insect.
