Sony Announces Executive- Level Changes in Management

(Tokyo, Japan)
Sony Corporation today announced executive-level changes in management
for Directors, Statutory Auditors, Corporate Executive Officers and Group
Executive Officers. The changes were proposed by the Nominating Committee
and approved today at a Board of Directors' Meeting. The new appointments
of Directors and Statutory Auditors are subject to approval at the Ordinary
General Meeting of Shareholders to be held on June 21, 2001.

Sony Announces Göran Lindahl as Candidate for Appointment to
the Board of Directors
Sony Corporation has chosen Göran Lindahl, former president and CEO
of ABB, as a candidate for the Sony Board of Directors. The appointment
is scheduled for ratification at the Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders
to be held on June 21, 2001. The Sony Board of Directors will therefore
consist of 12 persons (including 4 external directors) as of June 21,
2001.
As president and CEO of ABB, Mr. Lindahl made remarkable contributions
in reorganizing the operations and structure of this European company
as it pursued global business expansion.
Mr. Lindahl has rich experience in devising organizational structures
that permit speedy and flexible management even within a large corporation.
He is also deeply knowledgeable about integrating diverse business operations
and geographical areas into a unified corporate culture. As Sony develops
its own global operations for a new era, Mr. Lindahl's wisdom and advice
will prove invaluable.
