A strategic priority for Sony Corporation is to strengthen software-oriented product development, and to enable this objective, corporate headquarters hosted a forum bringing together front-end software engineers, hardware engineers, and management. The Forum's purpose was to provide an cross-border and cross-business setting to freely share engineering activities, achievements, challenges, and opportunities.


Sony Corporation CEO Sir Howard Stringer (above left) and Sony Electronics CEO Dr.Ryoji Chubachi (above right) joined the event and gave the participants an encouraging message of management support.


The forum included a keynote presentation, workshop session, and panel discussion. The 750 participants engaged in a proactive dialogue on how to improve software development activities, particularly on sharing and leveraging internal resources.


At the wrap-up party, Sir Howard Stringer enjoyed the opportunity to talk with engineers and encouraged them to collaborate across internal boundaries

Sony will continue the Software Forum on a regular basis to improve software development productivity, innovation, and strategic alignment with the business needs.
