System Software Update Ver.2.00 for RM-LVR2V (Mac)

What Does This Do?

This utility updates the system software and provides the following benefits:

  • "Loop recording" mode has been added to shooting mode setting. *1
  • The following features have been added to camera setting. *1
    • White balance setting
    • AE shift setting
    • Audio recording setting
    • Wind noise reduction setting
    • Loop recording interval setting
  • Image quality setting has been added. *2
  • Movie format setting has been added. *2
  • Date & time/area/daylight saving time (summer time) setting has been changed.
  • Time zone of some areas has been changed.

*1: Only available with compatible cameras (FDR-X1000V, HDR-S200V).
*2: Only available with compatible cameras (FDR-X1000V).

IMPORTANT: This file is only for use with the models identified. Not all models are sold in all countries.

Important Notes

  • This utility is only for use with the Sony® Live-View Remote RM-LVR2V. Do not install this utility with any other model.
  • WARNING!!: This system software update and any changes incurred by it are permanent. It is not possible to return to a previous system software version after updating this system software. By continuing this update process and downloading and updating this system software, you acknowledge that you are aware and understand that this update cannot be reversed.
  • This update process requires the following items for proper updating:

    A computer with:

    • OS X 10.7 - 10.10
    • IMPORTANT: Users of OS X 10.10 need to download and install DriverLoader. Refer to the instructions below.
    • CPU: Intel® processor*
      * Core™ Solo and Core Duo processors are not supported.
    • Available Hard Disk Space: 200 MB or more
    • Installed Memory (RAM): 512 MB or more
    • A USB port

    Power supply:

    • This update can only be performed when the remaining battery level is full .
    • WARNING!!: The product may not operate properly if the power is interrupted during the update.

    USB cable:

    • Use only the USB cable supplied with the camera.
    • IMPORTANT: Update functionality is not guaranteed with any other USB cable.

  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • Disable the sleep function in advance.
  • It is highly recommended that you print out these instructions for use as a reference during the installation process.

1. Determine if Your Live-View Remote Needs the Update

This update is only for Live-View Remote RM-LVR2V that currently have system software version 1.00. If your system software version is already version 2.00 or later, this update is not necessary.

[Check the version of your Live-View Remote system software:]

  1. Press the MENU button to display the list of setting items.
  2. Press the UP/DOWN button to select (Remote control settings), then press the REC/ENTER button.
  3. Press the UP/DOWN button to select (Version), then press the REC/ENTER button.

2. Prepare the Live-View Remote for the System Software Update

  • Ensure the remote control battery is fully charged.

3. Download and Install DriverLoader (For OS X 10.10 only)

This step is only required if your computer is running Mac OS X 10.10 (or later). In such case a preparatory application need to be run before performing firmware update. If your computer is running OS X 10.9 or lower, it is not needed to perform this and you can directly go the next step "4. Download and Update the System Software".

  1. Download the DL100_1411a.dmg file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).

  1. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the DL100_1411a.dmg file. Do not connect the camera at this point.
  2. Double-click the DL100_1411a folder which appears on the Desktop.
  3. Double-click the DriverLoader icon.
  4. The message prompts you to allow the application to make changes. Type the password for the administrative account and click "OK".

4. Download and Update the System Software

  1. Download the Update_RMLVR2V2.dmg file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).

  1. Close all running programs.
  2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the Update_RMLVR2V2.dmg.
    Note: Do not connect the camera to the computer until instructed to do so.
  3. "Update_RMLVR2V2" folder appears. Double-click the Firmware Updater icon in the folder.
  4. If a ["FirmwareUpdater" can't be opened because the identity of the developer cannot be confirmed.] message appears on the screen when you double-click Firmware Update, please follow the following steps:
    1. Click "OK".
    2. Click the FirmwareUpdater icon while pressing the "Control" key, and then select "Open" in the menu.
    3. Select "Open" when the warning message appears.
  5. At the Password prompt screen, enter the Name and Password for the administrative account, and then click "OK".
  1. "Firmware Updater" screen appears. Power on the remote control, connect the it to your computer using the supplied USB cable.
    • "USB Mode" is displayed on the remote control screen.
  2. Click "Next" when the connection has been made.

    Confirm that the image at left is displayed on the remote control screen.

  3. WARNING!!: Do not power off the remote control or disconnect the USB cable until the update process is complete.
  4. At the "Firmware Updater" window, click "Next".
  5. When the following screen is displayed, check the version number at the lower left.

    If the current version is "1.00", click "Next".

    Note: If the current version is "2.00" or later, your remote control does not need this update. Stop the USB connection, click "Finish".
  6. The following screen appears. On the remote control, press the REC/ENTER button to reset.

    The remote control screen turns off.

  7. At the "Firmware Updater" screen, click "Next".

    After resetting, reconnection of the remote control is verified.
  8. When the following screen is displayed, click "Run".
    Note: The update process takes about 10 minutes to complete.
  9. WARNING!!: Do not power off the remote control or disconnect the USB cable until the update process is complete.
  10. When the update is complete, the following screen is displayed, click "Finish".
  11. Disconnect the USB cable, then power off and on the remote control.

5. Check the System Software Version After Updating (optional)

  1. Press the MENU button to display the list of setting items.
  2. Press the UP/DOWN button to select (Remote control settings), then press the REC/ENTER button.
  3. Press the UP/DOWN button to select (Version), then press the REC/ENTER button.

    If "Ver.2.00" is displayed, the system software update was successful.
    Note: If "2.00" is not displayed, please download and install the system software update again.
