Ultra-Small Two-Wavelength Integrated Devices for Car DVD and CD Players

Ultra-small integrated optical devices implemented using ultrahigh precision semiconductor mounting technologies are core components in the DVD/CD player pickups of car DVD players, navigation systems, and car CD changers, etc. Integration of the structural elements required for optical pickups into an ultra-small package allows further reductions in size and thickness as well as simplification of optical pickups.

Monolithic Two-Wavelength Laser Operates at 85ºC
The device includes the industry's first pulsation laser that guarantees operation at 85ºC. Furthermore, no high-frequency module is required, obviating the need for undesired radiation countermeasures. Also, the device achieves low noise over a wide operating temperature range and high reliability.
Supports 8x Speed for DVD and 24x Speed for CD
The device supports 8x speed for DVD and 24x speed for CD by achieving a 100 MHz bandwidth on the DVD side and a 36 MHz bandwidth on the CD side. Furthermore, it responds to needs to support both single and dual-layer DVD discs, and both normal and low-reflective CD discs by providing an internal two-level gain switching function in the PDIC.
Circularly Polarized Emitting for High Playability
The device achieves circulary polarized optical output by incorporating a quarter-wavelength plate. And it uses the unpolarized optical system as the internal optical design. By using these designs, this device is not affected by variations in disc birefringence and thus can easily implement a high playability optical pickup system. At the same time, it achives an even higher level of stability with respect to the optical feedback noise.
