2. Handling Precautions and Reliability
2-1. (4) Contamination (Dust and Dirt)
- Note that dust and dirt on the window glass of a product may cause degradation of the product characteristics.
- Do not touch the window glass.
- Remove dust from the window glass using an air blower or other non-contact methods.
In this case also take care to prevent secondary contamination due to mist or other matter contained in the air, damage to the window glass due to contact with the nozzle, and electrostatic breakdown of the product due to static electricity generated by the air blower. (Methods for preventing electrostatic breakdown of a laser diode include short circuiting all of the leads or using an ionized air blower.)
- Note that corrosive gases and other harmful gases (adhesive out-gas, etc.) in the ambient atmosphere may adversely affect the product. Special care is required when using open-package products, as contamination of the laser diode ends and other internal elements can easily cause the characteristic degradation.
- Take care to prevent foreign matter (including dust) from entering the inside of the package of open-package products, as this may contaminate the internal elements.
