3:2 Aspect Ratio and Ultrafine
Pixels with 1.03M Dots (287 ppi) |
|
The ACX405AKM has the same 3:2 aspect
ratio as that of 35mm film cameras and digital
single-lens reflex cameras.
The number of pixels displayed is 720(H)
× RGB × 480(V), and it achieves ultrafine
pixels with a resolution of 287 ppi based on a
pixel pitch of 29.5 (H) × 88.5 (V) µm, and thus
provides smooth and attractive image display. |
Wide Viewing Angle of 160°
in All Directions (VSPEC III™) |
|
Sony has improved the viewing angle in this
display over current models using VSPEC
III™ (wide viewing angle LCD mode adopted)
in the diagonal directions, and this panel
achieves a viewing angle of 160°(CR >100)
in all directions. (See figure 2.)
Viewing angle and chromaticity variations
have been reduced compared to current
models, and attractive image display is
maintained even as the viewing angle is
changed. (See figure 3.) |
Improved Ambient Light Viewability Due
to a Design that Emphasized Brightness
|
|
Sony adopted a high-brightness design that
focused on viewing under outdoor conditions
as a result, the ACX405AKM achieves a
module brightness of 620 cd/m2 by adopting a
high transmittivity design, a 50% NTSC color
gamut, and a high brightness LED. Also,
viewability in outdoor conditions is improved
by the combination of the high-brightness
design mentioned above and suppressing
the majority of the interconnects that reflect
ambient light within the pixels. |
Minimal Changes in Whiteness
with Gradation
|
|
Compared to the earlier model, in which the
whiteness would shift with gradations, in the
ACX405AKM, the changes with gradation
are held to an absolute minimum by design
optimizations. |
Backlight Light Blocking Design
|
|
At the same time as being a high-brightness
design, Sony adopted technologies for
thoroughly blocking light from the backlight
so that extraneous light cannot be seen from
gaps in the frame. (See figure 4.) |
