Winter Camellia
A Japanese samurai, Hideyoshi Toyotomi (1536 - 1598) was fond of this variety of winter camellia. Called "goshikiyae no chiritubaki" in Japanese, it bears multiple colors of flower on the same tree: white, red, and pink flowers as well as flowers with both pink and red petals. Unlike many camellias whose flowers fall off intact, this winter camellia's petals fall off one at a time while the blossom remains attached.
