GVIF
Recommended Cable Characteristics

The GVIF system uses terminators at both Tx and Rx ends, a built-in cable equalizer and a small amplitude differential transmission signal in order to solve problems inherent with high-speed data transmission such as signal reflection, signal level attenuation and EMI. Additional system design considerations should be kept in mind to further mitigate against the aforementioned issues.

Key Design Considerations

1) Good Impedance Matching

Differential impedance according to recommended template

key design considerations

2) Minimal Cable Loss / Smooth Loss Curve

Maximum cable loss of less than 15dB at 1GHz

3) Minimal POS/NEG (differential serial data) Skew

4) Good EMI Characteristics

Recommendations for Above Issues

1) Use differential cable with high accuracy impedance, low loss, low skew matching. A shielded twisted pair (STP) is recommended.
2) Use low reflectance connectors.
3) Care should be taken with connector pin assignment. Select pins that do not interfere with other signals and make negative and positive wiring of equal length on board.
4) Use a double shielded cable.
