The chart on the above shows the playback error rate of discs undergoing a record-and-playback test after the discs’ recording surfaces were stained with oil. Discs presenting a high error rate can cause content recorded on disc such as pictures and sounds to be unstable upon playback. Sony incorporates a high-performance hard coat on each disc providing a low error rate and stable playback capability.
