There are a great number of recording density differences between Blu-ray Disc and other formats of optical media such as DVDs or CDs. The disc structure and design are very different. To increase the amount of data to be recorded in the same area, it is necessary to increase the density so that the data can be packed more tightly. Beam spot of Blu-ray Disc is much smaller to realize such a tight density.
