Please follow the procedure described below to add port from Server Properties on WindowsNT
and Windows2000 and WindowsXP.

-Download driver file from the web site onto Desktop.
-Decompress the file on Desktop.
-Copy all the files in the decompressed folder to floppy disk to use shorter path.
Don't copy the folder itself to floppy disk.
-Add port. Please change the source of the files to floppy disk.

Basically, Windows2000 drivers do not work on WindowsXP. However, some drivers do. Please refer to this chart for detail.

About Plug-in module, 32 bit versions work OK, but 16 bit versions do not work.

Do Sony Printer Drivers work on Windows2000?

Basically, WindowsNT4.0 drivers work on Windows2000. But there are several models we have not checked yet. Please refer to this chart for the details. Afterwards I will update about the models that have not been checked.
*Installation procedure is different from the one on WindowsNT4.0. Please be sure to follow the instruction manual below.

When you use the UP-D2500/2550/2550S WinNT4.0(Ver.1.02 or lower version), system hangs up.

Please use the updated printer driver (Ver.1.03).
(You can get on http://www.sony.co.jp/DP-driver-E.)
Every time you open the printer property on an application software,
memory occupied by the application software increases about 100KB.
If you repeat this hundreds of times, memory is completely occupied and system hangs up.
This problem occurs when you are using the driver Ver.1.02 or lower version.

PC hangs up during start up when I connect the UP-D8800, UP-D8800A, UP-D6600 or UP-D5500 with SCSI interface.

If the Adaptec SCSI driver(Ver.2.10 or greater) and AHA-2940 Series are installed on your computer,
there is the case PC hangs up if the printer firmware is old.
In this case, your printer needs the firmware version up. Please contact your nearest Sony service station.

When I connect UP-D70A, UP-D8800 or UP-D5500 to the Adaptec AHA-2940U2W on Win95, Win98 or WinNT4.0,
computer hangs up.

(Cause)
The minimum synchronous transfer speed of this SCSI adapter is 5MB. However, these printers return as 4MB.
This causes SCSI negotiation failure. (The adapter does not regard the printers as synchronous transfer devices.)
(Countermeasure)
For UP-D70A and UP-D5500, there are updated printer firmware.
Please contact your nearest Sony service station for firmware upgrade.
For UP-D8800, please disable the "Initiate Sync Negotiation" in SCSI adapter BIOS setting as below.
After this setting, communication between the printer and this adapter becomes asynchronous.
This setting will not produce any bad effect for printing time, etc.
*The following setting is effective for UP-D70A and UP-D5500 if you do not upgrade the printer firmware.
(How to setup?)
1. When the message of "Press "Ctrl+A" for SCSI Select Utility!" is displayed while starting the PC,
press keys of "Ctrl+A". Adaptec AHA-2940U2W setup screen appears.
2. Choose "Configure/View Host Adapter Settings" and press "Enter" key.
3. Choose "SCSI Device Configuration" and press "Enter" key.
4. Move the cursor to the SCSI ID number which the printer is connected and set "No" for "Initiate Sync Negotiation".

Is there any limitaiton to use UP-D890, UP-D2500/2550 and UP-D5500(Parallel interface) on Windows95/98 ?
