Firmware upgrade is started automatically after decompressing the file.

They are compressed archive files encoded to BinHex.
You need a freeware utility such as the "Stufflt Expander" which supports BinHex decoding function.
After decompression, please read the ReadMe and installation guide included in exe.file for further information.

*When you are using WindowsNT4.0 or Windows2000 or WindowsXP,
an error message is displayed at the step of installing the Port Monitor because of the long file name
if you put the decompressed file on the desktop. Please put the file in the folder which is not log file name.
Please refer to FAQ for the details.
*When you are using WindowsME
Windows95/98 drivers work on WindowsME.
*Please use Photoshop Ver.3.0.5 or later with the Plug-in modules on Windows95.
Printer name "UP-DXXXX" won't appear on "Export.." menu.
*For SCSI connection, Windows95 drivers work(Only UP-D70A) fine on Windows98 if the firmware is the latest version.
About the installation on Windows98, please refer to the following files.

*When you are using Printer Driver for Windows2000/XP
Parallel connection is not available.
*When you are using Printer Driver for WindowsNT4.0
Parallel connection is not available.
For specifying the defrosting place of a compressed file
- 1. Double click the downloaded compressed file, then the dialog "WinZipSelf-Extractor" comes up.
- 2. Specify the destination of the decompressed files on "Unzip To Folder."
- 3. Click "Unzip" to decompress the downloaded file.
- ex.) If the destination is C:\Temp, Temp folder on the C drive is made, and the decompressed files are stored in it.

[How to check Serial No.]
Check the serial number for your UP-D70A. The serial number is indicated on the label on the back of the printer.
[How to check Version No.]
*When you are using Serial number: 5 digits
- 1.After powering on the printer, LCD shows "DIGITAL COLOR ..." then "SCSI PARALLEL 30MB Ver.X.XX". X.XX is the version.
- 2.ROM version is shown in the main dialog of the Photoshop Plug-in Module.
- *If it shows 1.00, another printer setting is required after upgrading the firmware.
(Please refer to "After upgrading the firmware" in the [How to Version Up](*Serial number : 5 digits for UP-D70A))
*When you are using Serial number: 6 digits
- 1.After powering on the printer, LCD shows "DIGITAL COLOR ..." then "SCSI PARALLEL 30MB VXXX". XXX is the version.
- 2.ROM version is shown in the main dialog of the Photoshop Plug-in Module.
[How to Version Up]
*Serial number : 5 digits for UP-D70A
Please follow the following procedure for upgrading the firmware.
- 1. Please check that the printer is connected via SCSI. In case of Parallel connection, you can not upgrade the firmware.
- 2. Please check that the printer is in READY condition.
- 3. Downloaded file is self-extracting file. Please double-click fhe file and click the START button in the dialog.
Firmware is sent to the printer and upgrading starts.
When the printer is restarted and become READY condition, upgrade is completed.
Please be sure not to touch the printer while upgrading. It takes around 30 seconds.
- 4. If you failed to upgrade, power off the printer, wait more than 5 seconds, then power on the printer again.
When the printer LCD shows "SEND VER.UP DATA", retry upgrading.
- *In case you fail to upgrade, host computer may hang up and cannot connect to the printer
if you are using some certain SCSI adapter (such as Adaptec AHA-2940U2W).
After upgrading the firmware
If you are using the UP-D70A of Ver.1.00, the following setting is required.
- 1.Power on the printer while pressing the ↓ key.
- 2.LCD should show <2>. Please choose <1> using the ← key.
- 3.Power off the Printer.
*Serial number : 6 digits for UP-D70A
Please follow the following procedure for upgrading the firmware.
- 1. Please check that the printer is connected via SCSI. In case of Parallel connection, you can not upgrade the firmware.
- 2. Please check that the printer is in READY condition.
- 3. Downloaded file is self-extracting file. Please double-click fhe file and click the START button in the dialog.
Firmware is sent to the printer and upgrading starts.
When the printer is restarted and become READY condition, upgrade is completed.
Please be sure not to touch the printer while upgrading. It takes around 3 minutes.
- 4. If you failed to upgrade, power off the printer, wait more than 5 seconds, then power on the printer again.
When the printer LCD shows "SEND VER.UP DATA", retry upgrading.

[Before upgrading the firmware]
If you are using the UP-D70A of the following serial numbers, please check the firmware version before upgrading the firmware.
*Serial number is on the rear panel.
10001-10192, 30001-30050, 50001-50110
[How to check Version No.]
There are 2 ways to check the version as below.
- 1.After powering on the printer, LCD shows "DIGITAL COLOR ..." then "SCSI PARALLEL 30MB Ver.X.XX". X.XX is the version.
- 2.ROM version is shown in the main dialog of the Photoshop Plug-in Module.
- *If it shows 1.00, another printer setting is required after upgrading the firmware.
