Camcorder produced through computer-aided design and manufacturing. An improved grip shape transfers the camera weight vertically from one's wrist to one's elbow. This model set the standard for what came to be viewed as the ideal layout in contemporary camcorders, an inline design. The CCD-V90 also defined the basic style of Sony models until the launch of the TR series. Advances include a precision CCD of 380,000 effective pixels and double-azimuth 3-head video system.
Winner, First European Camcorder of the Year Award.
