Targeting male consumers in the 18-28 age range, the designers chose a uniform black color scheme for the case and screen mask. The screen in particular, called the "Black Face," inspired the appearance of many later sets. Several acclaimed aspects of the design, including the slanted front (for a viewing angle providing ideal contrast), made this "TV for men" a successful model.
