A glass stand for a flat-panel TV should do more than just hold up a screen. Can it be designed to stand out as an important element of the living space? To realize this ambition, the display is integrated into a glass that is elegantly styled in the form of a “Byobu”- a Japanese folding screen. The glass pattern, the edge lighting, and the TV image play off one another in synergistic interaction. The Lombardy fabricated glass produces a sense of translucency and depth, defining the space around it and provoking a visual response to all who approach.

L’intenzione è quella di estendere la funzionalità di un apparecchio televisivo ad un importante, se non fondamentale, elemento di design d’arredamento per la zona giorno. Lo schermo TV è integrato in un elegante vetro laminato ispirato al Byobu - classico paravento giapponese - ma il progetto è molto più ambizioso. Il disegno del vetro, l’illuminazione del bordo e l’immagine TV giocano fra loro in un’interazione sinergica. Una sensazione di luminosità e profondità definisce lo spazio attorno ad esso, provocando una risposta visiva in coloro che si avvicinano.
