Pursuit of design that people want to have
This HDR-HC3 digital high vision “Handycam” was created from our desire to broaden the appeal of a high-definition device previously conceived as “being more for professional-use” to general consumers. From this viewpoint, this Handycam was designed to be seen as something people would want to have, just like cars and fashionable accessories.
Attention to hand fit detail
In designing the HDR-HC3, we were committed to improving the video camera’s basic features, “recording, viewing and hand fit” Improvements in the design have been reflected in these three features. When the grip is parallel to the main body, this causes stress on the wrist. For this reason, theHC3 has been designed with a tilted grip, and tilted chassis. A prototype unit was tested with the grip rotated every one degree to determine the optimal tilt angle and a final tilt angle of 7 degrees was decided upon.
Great sensitivity born from users’ needs
In addition to the tilt feature, we have implemented other new ideas to make it easier to use and more compact. The oval-shaped lens portion has made the HC3 look slimmer while maintaining its impressive presence, and the battery has been embedded in the main body. Moreover, an auto lens-shutter has been used, instead of a lens cap, for improved operation and design. In response to concerns about the size of the grip, which has been enlarged, a breathable mesh material has also been added to the back of the belt to increase its comfort and stability. The HC3 is the result of a synergy between its ease of use and design quality, features that have been achieved based on market demand.
